SPARKDOVESEYES THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 07/02/2022

 Good Morning,

It is a lovely quiet sunny day here, after a week of cool but sunny days. The Galahs have gathered in the dead tree, had their meeting and separated once again to go off their separate ways. The magpies are singing and flying up high in the sky and diving down again .. lovely.

I have a new Finished Object. I made WonderPhil a 50% merino/50% nylon work sock. We like to have jandals and socks on around the house. So I had to figure out a way to make those. The socks I made for myself will be adapted after I have finished his second sock which I started yesterday.

I found a free Japanese Sock pattern that is very well written and followed the pattern as written, my Kitchener is getting better too, it will become more refined after each sock I am sure.

Our Winter is like Spring in the Northern hemisphere, we get lambs and calves and baby magpies squawking for Mum to feed them. Then one day she just shows them where the food is and they have to get it themselves. that causes a lot of squawking :) but they learn. We have a huge flock here now and I love to watch them.

I even try out my whistling to 'chat' to them, some days they 'sing' back so I may be adopted :)

I still have the Chanel jacket on the go and the hand warmers and the pair of West Yorkshire Spinners socks, a cowl, a Summer top, ....

I am trying to finish one thing at a time but I do get distracted by pretty patterns :)

The lady I gave the cowl to gave me a huge bag of yarn to say thanks, so I have more yarn now :)

Happy 4th of July coming up...enjoy :)

Happy birthday to all for July, have a wonderful happy day :)

SPARKDOVESEYES DAYS THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 06/18/2022

Good morning,

It is raining here, the lovely pitter patter of the drops hitting the colorbond roof. I awoke to a misty grey morning, the valley shrouded in cloud. Miss Beauty is already sitting down from finding fresh green grass to eat, her kangaroo companions have just left after spending some time with her. The Winter pond is slowly filling so she wont need to climb the hill soon.

I do apologize for not posting each week, sometimes there is just nothing to report :).

But not today, I have FO's and Wips, yay.

I finished the yellow top and then redid the sleeves,

I added the collar to the pattern it worked out lovely and have worn it too.

Hubby's socks are on the needles, he wanted long ones for his work boots, so I am using a wool/nylon yarn like my ones for him. I ordered some more skeins as he will want a few pairs and got a lovely pink yarn for some more for me. Shorties with a lacy band at the top.

 Front...

Back with heel flap and gusset, working down to toes. We like to wear thongs around the house so they need to have a longer foot so we can fit the 'bar' of the thongs between our toes.

Also as if i had nothing to knit ... as if... I started a hand warmer last night !!

On a 9" circular 2.25 mm.

I have also gone back to my Chanel Cardigan as it has languished for a year whilst I knit other things. I finished both fronts and am working on sleeve one.

This gives you an idea of the colors, it is a 'false' cable done by twisting a stitch as you go along. It is a baby yarn and is 'saliva' resistant which I find hilarious especially as I am aging.

So all my other wips are calling to me as well, socks must come first and I really need to stop casting on things that leap out at me to give to people.

I made a cable headband/cowl and gave it to a lovely lady :)

It was made with alpaca yarn soo soft.

Well lovely people thanks for stopping by, so much going on in the world, thinking of you and hoping you find a quiet place to reflect and time to enjoy what you love to do.

If your road is tough at the moment, sending hugs and quiet times to rest in.

Sparkdoveseyes thru the Knitting Glass 05/21/2022

Hi there hope the change of season is being kind to you :)

Beauty had part of her horn removed and can see better now.

 Both socks finished

90% wool 10% nylon... lovely to wear.

We went out to vote today, we go to the local High School, lots of folks in line, Hot Dogs cooking for afters... people offering pamphlets for "how to". One of the sheets was so long you had to push it up the walls in the cardboard booth to fill it in. Glad that is done and we get a say.

A few more past knits, these have plastercine in and roll around and then stand up again... fun,

Fun hat for Son in Law when gardening with the Grandies :)

Have a happy week

SPARKDOVESEYES DAYS THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 04/23/2022

Hello,

Autumn is coming and Winter is on it's way :)

This weekend is ANZAC day in New Zealand and Australia.

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

I have finished the Back of the Vincas and started on the front, a lovely pattern that resembles to me an embroidery sampler.

My sock continues to grow as well ...

That is my laptop cable over my foot. :) looks like it will fit .

I loved making the Kringle Sparkle yarn hat.

It is another Berroco pattern called Viveca, lovely pattern that calls for k4 tbl then k4 tog to make a gathered texture.

Also finished the cowl in Chenille yarn from the Cowl girls pattern book. It is a mixed chocolate shade, sorry it doesn't show up well.

Still have plenty to make though I am taking a little time to get back into my walking and stretching,

Wishing you a wonderful week with lots of joy, hope your Easter or celebrations went well.

Hugs

Chris

SPARKDOVESEYES DAYS THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 04/09/2022

Morning,

Ah the memories of Sparkpeople :)

I took a few weeks off from blogging, but now I am back.

Knitting continues on all fronts :)

The Cherries on top is getting two rows a day.

I have started the Vincas another Berroca pattern it is like an embroidery sampler, lots of different patterns.

I have also started to knit socks, amazing to me as I have never tried, but with the correct needles and a lot of help from the Crazy Sock Lady book I am getting there.

Apart from a purl row on the knit side I am steaming ahead. Just waiting for a smaller circular to arrive to finish foot and toe. I always shied away from socks as too hard, I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I don't have a photo but I also started a hat, Berroco of course... the Viveca hat, another new pattern for me.

I am knitting it in a Kringle Sparkle in colorway Green Mix, love the pattern, different shades of green and the sparkle :).

I am still wading through the medical tests, it is very wearying on me. More to come it seems.

Hoping you are all enjoying the season as it changes in your area. We are getting small blades of green coming through the brown dry soil after some lovely rain.

Beauty the cow is soooo over dry food and is looking for the green grass to grow quicker :) she sends a friendly soft moo your way.

Enjoy each day and do something that lifts your heart :)

Hugs

Chris
