SPARKDOVESEYES THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 01/29/2022

Morning,

I have a lovely day with blue skies and trees waving in the hot breeze, I have had a productive week with my exercises and knitting efforts.

My little GS Mr E has covid though as at time of typing the rest of the family test negative. He has a sore tummy and feels sick.

The opening photo is another free Berroco pattern a headband called Calisson. This one is made in chunky yarn and will go to my friend for her birthday as a cowl. The color is a little more orangy than pictured.

I worked on the Diane Tee and am still enjoying the 'crazy' way it is knit. I have knitted across the neck line and will join the two pieces again and knit the pattern across to the other sleeve and then the rib on the sleeve.

It continues to 'drag' along the front and back as it goes... so cool.

I also made a head band in DK the same color as the Diane.

It is showing pretty well here, another few inches and then sew the edges together.

The Rivette Tee has 'suffered' this week as I work on the Diane, though I did add another pattern ... 8 rows... onto it.

This is the edge pattern that will be the sides of the Tee, so cool and the centre panel is a joy to knit. the darker section is the Linen it is so drapey and soft.

The centre section ... it now measures eight inches and at twelve inches the sleeve decreases start. I have split my 4 ply yarn in two lots so I can replicate on the back, it will have darker shades as it goes up with a tweed look yarn on top.

Hoping you are well and enjoying life ...

Hugs and warm wishes from Australia

SPARKDOVESEYES THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 01/23/2022

Good morning and welcome to my page, it has been a long week as it seems to be when you have appointments to go to.

Monday was the Hospital, another x ray, a wait to see the trauma Registrar, the humerus is healed and I am discharged.

Then Friday to another Hospital for physio, the hope that the arm will return to full use, I had been doing some exercises and received the 'upgraded' version :)

She was happy that I am getting results and will continue to work on the new ones. Then back in a few weeks.

A photo of this weeks progress on the Diane Tee by the Berroco Team. Here you can see more clearly the way it is knit. The cuff and pattern part are the sleeve and the long piece on this side and folded on the other side will be the front and back. So only side seams to complete and some rib at the bottom of front and back.

Also did another eight row pattern on the Rivette Tee, it is so soft and light using the 4 ply yarns in merino and the next part is in linen which is sooo soft and drapey.

Sorry it's side ways I did turn it but... :), so the light color is the beginning rows, in merino silk, the darker color is the linen yarn. The cable is only every eight rows and the lace is on each end and before and after the middle cable section.

I have written it out on individual pieces of paper so I get each stitch correct, I did not at the start but have left it that way to remind me I am 'human' :).

Each project has it's own story. Now the rows are correct.

I did have to research K tbl and p tbl they make lovely stitches across the knitting.

I am wanting to get more items off the needles so worked on this ...

the yarn is Knitpicks merino style Bare (not dyed) DK, 100 grams and 246 yards.

I caked it up into two cakes. One was to be a hat .... then a scarf then a cowl...

I finished it last night and it is a cowl double thickness with a lovely cable design.

It looks small but is sooo stretchy and soft around my neck ... I turned in the edges and sewed them inside to make it the right size.

On my needles still I have a Chanel Jacket ... the back and most of the left front is done.

A "made it up myself' jacket using the feather and fan stitch.

A scarf ... gradient shades going from white to deepening shades of yellow and gold.

Then three sweaters to make and looking for patterns for the Chenille chunky yarn DS got me for Christmas.

These will make a dent in my sixteen bags of yarn... yes :) that is right. A couple of them are bits I am putting in my crochet blankets ... oops yes there are also two crochet blankets, one with black edging and one with white edging around the squares.

I will not buy anymore yarn till I have wittled away most of these ... :) or that is my intention. Though I have not bought any yarn since before Christmas and still have plenty of 'squishing sessions' :)

The heat and the 42-44 deg C days do not stop me from knitting :), the air con is wonderful ... we use an evaporative system.

Thanks for wading through this it seems to be a long one today :)

Here's hoping what ever brings you joy is available to you in these tough times.

Lots of hugs

SPARKDOVESEYES THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 01/15/2022

BE FREE

Hi there,

Hope you are having a lovely day.

This week I finished the hats for DD's family and will send them off .

I made one for SIL, Miss A, Mr E and the baby on the way. DD will receive the Alpaca/Acrylic shawl I made.

I have also been working on the Diane Tee, it is turning out to be a joy to make though the way it is made is so new to me. You start with one sleeve and work across the shoulder to the other one adding the front and back as you go and finishing on the left sleeve with just a lower band and tidy up the neckline.

I do like a challenge :) I am also working on the Rivette Tee, it is a mix of my favorite patterns, lace, cable and stocking stitch... knit bottom up and just two parts. Front and back...easy after the Diane :)

Here are the hat photos and progress on the Diane and Rivette .

It has a lovely twisted rib that runs through the pattern as well .

Making slow progress on the Brick layers shawl which is now going to be a cowl as I do only two rows a day as it is a complicated pattern. It is about half way to finished now :)
It is a lovely custard color.

I have appointments this week for new x ray and some physio, Hubby has work, it will be in the 40's deg C

Hot hot hot

Thanks for stopping by to read this

SPARKDOVESEYES THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 01/08/2022

It is lovely sitting here under the vent of the air con typing away :)

I think I have caught you up on all my knitting, though I have started to knit hats for the family in Tasmania.

SIL's hat is done, a grey blue acrylic quite plain but so warm for their cool winters, Hubby picked a bright green and fluoro gold for Mr E's hat and for Miss A two bright shades of pink. They are to come next time :)

I am knitting a with a merino 4ply in a dark grey for the baby's hat, he will need to be warm when Mum goes to the shops.

I have finished my Workday scarf knit in merino alpaca nylon blends, it will be so warm for me in Winter and folds up like a flower :)

Hubby 3-D printed a baby head for me so I could check sizing, it is a bit small and makes a weird ornament :)

That is all for today lovely people must go off and give Beauty some cool carrots on this hot day. Stay cool or warm depending on your part of this wonderful World, we will catch up again soon

SPARKDOVESEYES THRU THE KNITTING GLASS 01/03/2022

Hello... long time no blog :)

For those who do not know I broke my arm in September and have been recuperating since, no op just a collar and cuff for a few weeks and then returning periodically for x rays to see progress.

I was at the shopping centre and was putting something in my bag and tripped over an object left on the ground. I lay there till someone found me and got my Pharmacist to come out and do triage on me, then Hubby took me to the Hospital

The fall broke my humerus.

I was in critical care overnight and sent home the next day.

Hubby has been a tower of strength to me and has cared for me all these months, WonderPhil as per pseudonym :)

I did suffer from being left on the ground for however long it was but I gave it to the 'Big Guy' and carried on.

Here are some photos of what I made while recuperating :)

Duchess of Devonshire Shawl knit in Alpaca and Acrylic, the gold is lovely and soft.

this is the hem knit sideways

I got the ball winder for my birthday and Hubby has been caking up my yarn for me :)

DS got me a pattern for a poncho and some yarn, how he did it I don't know he even picked the correct type for the pattern ... must be love I guess :)

Hubby bought himself the 3-D printer and made me a yarn ball holder for all those balls he is going to cake for me.

Sorry it has been a while and my photos are out of sync to the pics ... a ha you can't see my arms :)

The poncho is made with 12 and 14 ply wool it was a lovely knit on huge needles :)

I am doing this on my laptop and using the pad not my usual mouse.

Hoping to get back into blogging again

Hugs and Happy New Year
