The Week DD Came to Stay ...

What a lovely week it was. ... we picked up DD at the airport in the dark :) I was glad it wasn't raining.
We got home and sat up talking till the wee hours, she had her Dr tone in her voice and it made me smile, though as she talked it went away and she was our 'girl' again.

She loved her room and all the things I had gathered for the little ones, plus some baby sheets etc. She remembered the large suitcase 🙂.
It rained most of the week and we only went out all together on Wednesday to the shops so she could buy some things for the little ones. DS took the day off so we were a family once again. Lots of laughter and joy 🙂

The rain poured down most days and on Thursday Hubby and I went off down the hill to feed Beauty, DH wanted to see if any trees had fallen as we had a lot of storms and rain this year. We left DD in her pj's on the sofa...

Sure enough a huge Eucalypt had lost a branch ... and when I say branch I am talking 15 foot long and about four foot round with huge off shoot branches ... the weight of it falling had pushed one branch a foot into the soft wet dirt. We started pulling branches away from the fence and DH decided to go and get the 'truck' his Nissan pathfinder to drag the biggest ones.

I carried on pulling branches and then DH was back and drove the truck into the fire break which is now a mud puddle and the truck went down to the step in mud and the tyres went lower and lower and the truck tipped and skewed . I was incredulous that he didn't think of the consequences, I said nothing ... I have learned over the years do not talk to a man when he is in "rescue mode" I call it his "berserk" mode from a movie many years ago :), a huge flow of rage and energy that gets things done... but don't go near till it's over :)

I looked up and there was DD in her pj's and 'towny boots' coming down the hill, I went into Mother mode and said "what are you doing? " she just laughed and started helping Dad . It was soon obvious two old people and a small dr in pj's were not up to the task ahead. So Hubby went for the chain saw and a thing called a "come along" I would call it a winch with a handle to tighten it.

I said I was going for help and they said stay up there ... ha ha no one was home ... I just laughed it was so incredible 🙂

Hubby and DD did the best they could and got the truck out and came back to the house where the power had gone off !!!

The roller door could not be open so DD had to break out to get to us 🙂

It was hilarious really and a great story to add to the family history 🙂

The next day we dropped DD off at the airport with lots of hugs to be going on with ... I was not sad at all I was so grateful to have had this opportunity to hug her and talk to her and love her face to face .

I have to end it here now as Hubby is back and wanting food for the afternoon ahead of clearing and burning the rest of the branches and fixing the fence so the neighbors sheep don't get out 🙂

Thanks for being there for me,

Have a great weekend and we will catch up again next Saturday my time

Hugs Christine

PS sorry there was no photographic evidence, though it would have been great to see the angle on the 'truck' and the mud up to the running board !!

Finally Saturday is here :)

Good Morning,

Saturday is here and DD is coming.... ahh

Tonight at ten pm, we will pick her up at the airport and bring her home.

I have been knitting during the week working on my lemon and lime cardigan,

It has a lemon and lime and white group of colors that needed some thought to get right, the fronts have a cable on the sleeve seams. It has me joining yarn to keep it looking right ... though I do think it will be a home cardigan... it is my first foray into this sort of color combo.

This is the sleeve and you can see the color is spread in a different configuration.

It is all knit on 4mm needles , stocking stitch back and fronts with the cable edge on the front sleeve edge and the sleeves are four by two rib all the way.

Weight wise I am going down ... still no news six months later on my procedure to correct the blockage in my heart. I am finally feeling like myself after six months of Hubby taking very good care of me ...though he still is wary of me showering in case I fall :).... keeper !!

I am back to working out and walking, not Zumba every day as I am a little wary of getting my heart up to what I used to push it to :)

I have my reading list on Blogger and check it often to see if there are new blogs to read. I have also taken some urls from the maintain site and added them to the list.

I  just realized the other day there is a Title line ha ha  .. so  am still learning :)

Have a wonderful day ,

Sparkdoveseyes Days thru the Knitting Glass Episode

Thanks for stopping by,

I am thoroughly enjoying my remade sweater, so warm ...

This week my hands were soooo... sore Hubby says my laptop keyboard is to blame, it slowed knitting up considerably .

The Workday Scarf shown here is now :-

 The Wedding scarf now

It is actually a custard color and is so hard I have reverted to writing out each line on an A4 to try to keep from undoing and redoing so often... hope it works it is a gorgeous pattern even DH likes it and he is not easily impressed :)

Left side started for the Chanel jacket and pocket inners finished.

Feather and Fan vest has grown

Today is a peaceful day ... have skyped with DD and looking forward to her visit... room ready, toys and knitting ready for her to take home. Food in freezer....heart ready :)

Peace comes from within and flows out like a river ... peace restored :)

The Week As It Was ...

Morning :)

 Saturday Morning 10 July 2021

We are out of lockdown on Monday and no need to wear masks again. So this week we could only go out for essentials and had to wear masks indoors.

We went out for food ... for us and for Beauty the cow :)

Having finished one project I moved on to a new one :), a Chanel jacket . This is the back.

It is knit in a Twist pattern ...a four row pattern with the twist on the third row.. it is quick to knit.

We have had a lot of rain this week and Beauty must have been hungry as she came up the hill early each day.  The rain pounded down most days and then some sunshine followed.

It is nice to have some slow days in the winter, time to get things done at home and to catch up with friends.

I love living in our small town,we can say "hello" to everyone and get a "hello" in reply :) it is a peaceful place and I am enjoying it a lot.

Inner peace is so important these days with changes happening quickly, keeping your joy and peace means you have time to think ... think about your answers and think of others :)

This is Phoenix, he is going on nine years old.

So great to be able to wear it after all the changes ... I love it and it's so warm :)

Sparkdoveseyes Days Through the Knitting Glass episode today.

Morning to You All, thanks for stopping by.

I am continuing to work on my do over cardigan. Having undone and re skeined the yarn, I knitted the two sleeves and the back, when I was half  way up the front,  I  found that I  had not enough yarn to complete.

I purchased two balls of white Aran, used the DK yarn I had held double and found a sparkle ball to mix in. Hope you can see it in the photo.

 It is in the green.

This one shows the stripey front shoulder folded up  and the start of the white collar. The top is actually the bottom ... :)  once the collar is the right length is is sewn down the front to make a shawl collar.

Then the sleeves are added and everything sewn together. It was certainly an interesting pattern to knit, very easy to follow and with the Aran yarn quick to knit. It is a thicker yarn than the DK or 8 ply I usually use.

This is my join, on the left, the green to the white stripe, it is so neat I will be using it every time now.

Here is a reminder of the pattern I am using :).

Another try at showing the bling :) from Hubby's phone

Thanks so much for your continued support,

Have a wonderful week,
